Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with community service. The first time, he was raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon at their Eufala farm. He was the smallest of nine children. Second, football was his favorite sport. He was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the leading lineman of the nation. Oklahoma won two National Championships over his three-year tenure as the starter. He was awarded his third scholarship, and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduating, he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was all-pro three times, and began a business career. In 1988 he was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute in the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds at the time he played college football. In 1975, he commanded the team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as associate director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame named him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award presentation was given by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
